Sopore, April 07,2021: Catering hundreds of villages in its catchment Sub District Hospital Sopore (SDH) in north Kashmir’s Baramulla district is without Block Medical Officer (BMO) since last three months.
Since the former Block Medical Officer Dr. Asif Khanday left the charges, no-one took permanent charge as New BMO, locals complained. The hospital is without its head from last three months thus affecting it’s smooth functioning.
Hospital is supposed to be headed by a medical officer but unfortunately SDH Sopore is headless since last three months, locals added.
The absence of the BMO has badly hit the affairs of the hospital as a result of which both the doctors and para-medics posted at the hospital suffer,” an employee posted at SDH Sopore said.
Senior politician of Sopore Irshad Rasool Kar said the non availability of BMO has not only affected the administrative set up badly but also the smooth functioning of the hospital, he said that during this second wave of Covid-19 Common people are worst suffered as the hospital is headless.
Kar, said that the health facility at SDH Sopore is also insufficient the hospital needs manpower to cater to the health needs of the public as it has dearth of doctors and other paramedics staff which causes more referrals to Srinagar
Meanwhile various local organizations such as Civil Society, Coordination committee and Economic Alliance has urged the Deputy Commissioner Baramulla and director health kashmir to intervene for early redressal the issue.
Recently government has given additional charge to Dr. Javid (BMO) kreeri Baramulla has hold the charge as BMO Sopore also.
Pertinently an order was issued on 29th January, 2021 and reportedly Dr. Aadil Kangoo was supposed to join as new BMO at SDH Sopore but he has not joined the duties till date for unknown reasons.
